Start with what your player needs, then focus on fit. Find the equipment checklist, rental and buying options, and care reminders for the season.
Required equipment
The checklist below is a starting point for boys field players. Goalkeepers use different equipment, and younger-player formats can have different requirements. Confirm the checklist for your player’s program and position before buying.

For goalkeepers
A goalie’s kit is different from a field player’s. It includes specialized items such as a throat protector, a goalie chest protector meeting NOCSAE ND200, goalie gloves and goalie stick. Confirm the complete age-specific requirements with the club before purchasing; this short summary is not the full goalie checklist.

Start with the manufacturer’s fitting instructions
Use the instructions for the actual model you are buying. Sizing labels alone do not tell you whether an item fits your player. Try gear on where possible, and ask for help if you are uncertain about adjustment or compatibility.
For helmets in particular, follow the manufacturer’s fitting guidance rather than selecting by brand or appearance. USA Lacrosse points families to the manufacturer’s sizing and fitting information. If you are considering secondhand gear, ask about its condition and history before deciding whether it is suitable.
Build a simple gear routine
Label the equipment that travels between home, school and the field. After use, take damp gear out of the bag and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and drying instructions. Check straps, fastenings and fit regularly, especially as your player grows.
If something is damaged, no longer fits, or is difficult to adjust, ask for advice before the next session. Keep repair and replacement decisions specific to the item; this guide does not set a universal replacement schedule.
Gear rental
The club’s youth rental agreement covers the spring season. Ask about eligibility, sizing and availability before planning on a rental.

- Helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves and stick. Check the full equipment checklist for anything else your player needs.
- Rental period
- From the date gear is issued through the club’s return date, communicated to families at the end of the season.
- Returning gear
- Return all items at the club’s designated time and location. Normal wear is accepted; missing items or excessive damage beyond normal wear incur full replacement cost at current market prices.
A parent or guardian signs the rental agreement and waiver. Gear remains club property and is for the named player’s lacrosse use only; do not alter it or lend it to others.

Start with the checklist and your program’s guidance. Bring any equipment you already own when asking about fit or replacements, and confirm a retailer’s current services and availability before making a trip. Optional apparel and accessories can wait until the essentials are understood.
